Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 17, 2026
Your privacy is the foundation of Dualogue. This app was built on a simple principle: your thoughts are yours alone. We designed Dualogue so that your most personal data never has to leave your device.
1. Information We Collect
Dualogue is designed to collect as little data as possible. Here is what we handle:
- Journal Entries — Stored locally on your device only. Never uploaded to any server.
- Avatar Photo & Name — Stored locally on your device only. Never uploaded.
- Memory Capsule — If you choose to create a Memory Capsule, only the entries you explicitly select are uploaded to our secure server (Cloudflare) so others can access them using your private code. This is entirely optional and initiated only by you.
- Mood & Insights Data — Stored locally on your device only.
- Notification Preferences — Stored locally on your device only.
2. How We Use Your Information
The AI chat feature (your digital twin) sends your journal entries and conversation messages to our Cloudflare Worker, which proxies requests to OpenAI's API. This is used solely to generate responses in the chat. We do not store, log, or retain any conversation data on our servers.
✓ No ads. No tracking. No selling your data. Ever.
3. Data Storage & Security
- Local Storage — All journal entries, moods, and personal data are stored using iOS's secure local storage (UserDefaults with device encryption).
- Face ID / Biometrics — Used only for locking the app on your device. Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS and never accessed or stored by Dualogue.
- Memory Capsules — Stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure with a 20-year expiry. Protected by your private access code.
- AI Conversations — Proxied through our Cloudflare Worker to OpenAI. Not stored on our servers.
4. Third-Party Services
5. In-App Purchases
Dualogue offers optional Pro subscriptions (monthly, annual) and a one-time lifetime purchase. All payments are processed by Apple. We do not collect or store any payment or financial information.
6. Children's Privacy
Dualogue is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your Rights
Since almost all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:
- Delete your data — Use "Delete All Data" in Settings to permanently remove all local data.
- Delete your Memory Capsule — Use the Memory Capsule settings to permanently delete your capsule from our servers.
- Export your data — Pro users can export their journal as a PDF at any time.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
